HENRY GEORGE CAPELLE 1917 - 2007 On June 24, 2007, Henry George Capelle passed away peacefully, at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Anne Elizabeth (Nancy) Capelle (nee Cox), who passed away on January 16, 2007. Nancy and Henry had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 20, 2006. They were devoted to each other and are now together forever. Cremation has taken place and Henry is interred at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens alongside his wife Nancy. His parents are buried at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A private family celebration of his life has been held. Henry was born in 1917 in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Science degree at the University of Toronto. He was a meteorologist with the federal government for 33 years working at the Winnipeg airport. He trained pilots in meteorology during the Second World War, and occasionally delivered the weather forecasts on Winnipeg CBC TV News. He played tennis in his youth and won the Elmwood Tennis Club Men's Singles Championship in 1934 at the age of 17. He also enjoyed speed skating in his youth. A focal point for his growing family was his boat which was used for family fishing and water skiing. He was active until age 89, driving his own car and walking on a regular basis. He continued to be devoted to his wife, sons and their families. He is survived by his three sons and their families: Ron Capelle and Karen King, and their sons, Geoff and Graeme; Ken Capelle and Shelley Saunders and their sons, Stephen and David; and Harry Capelle and his daughter Susan. Special thanks to the staff of Tuxedo Villa for their loving care of Henry while at Tuxedo Villa. He is gone but not forgotten. He will continue to be much loved.
