ALEESHA YASMEEN AL-ATIYA Aleesha Yasmeen Al-atiya, age 11, died unexpectedly at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital on Friday, June 29, 2007. Aleesha was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 28, 1996 and attended Shamrock Elementary School from Kindergarten until grade 4four She is survived by her parents, Thiaa and Brenda Al-Atiya; her sister, Deena, and brother, Adam. She is furthered survived by her grandparents, Walter and Florence Turko (Rorketon, MB), and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Hassan and Fatima Al-Atiya. A private family prayer will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at MIA Grand Mosque on 2445 Waverley at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow, as well as a fellowship at 4:00 p.m. It will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens on 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The family would like to thank the staff and teachers at Shamrock School, the staff at Children's Special Services as well as Karen Ayala (Aleesha's respite worker), for their excellent care for her throughout the years.
