NORMAN WALLACE GENTLES (WALLY) June 26, 1908 - June 21, 2007 Our kind and gentle Wally passed away peacefully at his Comfort Living residence in Kelowna, British Columbia, just five days before his 99th birthday. He was born in Motherwell, Scotland and came to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan with his parents, Margaret Helen Wallace and Lt. Col. Norman Gentles and siblings, Margaret, Tommy and Robert in 1913. Wally married the love of his life, Connie (Edith Catherine Connor) in 1936 and they had 63 years together until her death in 1999. Wally had a long and rewarding career as a manager with Canada Packers in Moose Jaw and Winnipeg. On retirement in 1969, they settled in Florida where Wally was able to exercise his lifetime passion for the game of golf. After returning to Canada in 1983 and settling in Kelowna, Wally joined Gallaghers and then Sunset Ranch Golf Course, where he truly loved his hours spent playing golf and the camaraderie of his friends. Wally is survived by his nieces, Gerry (Carlo) Manzara, Bonny (Dave) Teichroeb, and nephews, Dick (Beth) and Bob (June), and their families. Also by his sister-in-law Edna Hall and nieces, Marion (Louis) Konkin, Shannon Hall, Barbara Hall, and their families, and by brother-in-law Morley Connor and niece Cheryl Burwood and family. Wally will be especially missed by his special friends, Liz and Alan Hudson. The family is most grateful for the patient and understanding care that Liz provided during Wally's later years. Our heartfelt thanks, Liz, your love and compassion will always be remembered. At Wally's request there will be no service, but the family invites his friends for a remembrance of his life on Wednesday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Ranch Golf Course, Kelowna. Wally's ashes will be buried at a later date, with those of Connie's, at the Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw. Weep not for me - I will never die. You will find me Wherever wild roses bloom Beneath a prairie sky Condolences may be sent to Wally's family by visiting www.mem.com. Funeral arrangements in care of VALLEYVIEW DIGNITY FUNERAL HOME, 165 Valleyview Rd., Kelowna, 250-765-3147.
