Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN SPENCE (EATON) July 12, 1931 - June 28, 2007 On June 28, 2007 Jean passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg. One of four children, Jean spent most of her life in St. James. She grew up on Berry Street. After a series of moves with Bill and the family, they settled on Nightingale Road. When Jean left high school she worked at Eatons, where she made lifelong friendships. In 1950, Jean's brother Harry introduced her to his friend Bill Spence. It was the beginning of a relationship that lasted 56 years. Jean will be sadly missed by her devoted husband and partner, Bill; her children, Debbie (John) Bruneteau, Sheila Spence and partner Patti Jensen, Robin Spence (Paul Johnson) of Calgary, Billy (Melody) Spence of California and her beloved grandchildren, Stacie Bruneteau (Collin Bourgouin) and Parker Johnson. Jean is survived by her sister Pat (Phil) Laurin; her brother Jack (Elaine) Eaton of Kingston, Ontario and chosen family, Emily and Ray Brodowich. Jean had many close friends, and the family in particular would like to thank Pat McDonald for her unfaltering friendship and love. Jean loved being a mother. She was proud of her children, embracing their differences and encouraging their dreams. Her grandchildren, first Stacie and then Parker, filled her with joy. Jean loved life, laughter and friendship. These qualities are her legacy. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, St. James. Thank you to the staff of T-6 at Deer Lodge Centre for the kindness and compassion that you gave Jean and her family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Alzheimer Society-Lewy Body Research, Unit 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2.
