I came across a letter from Rudolf Braun to my mother recently. The letter was to tell her that his wife, Elsa had died. So it was an old letter to be sure. My mother, Irene Buettner died in 2005 as well. When we as a family lived in Winnipeg, we were family friends with the Brauns. My sister, brother and I went to school with the Braun kids. And when my parents went on a trip, I stayed with the Braun family for the whole time my parents were away. We are talking about the late 60's. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Braun and after all this time, I wanted to tell you that I still remember despite that this is 50+ years ago. Thank you for being my mother's friend. - Posted by: Marie Lang (nee Buettner) (daughter of a family friend) on: Jun 13, 2025

The other day I bought a hand crafted piece of wood art from the thrift store that instantly put a smile on my face. When I got home I realized that the back was stamped with a name and address local to Winnipeg. Though it has been smudged and is in part illegible.. I can clearly make out the name “Rudolf Braun”, and I am wondering if this is indeed the same Rudolf? As an artist myself, I understand the time and energy that goes into creating a piece of art, and I would love to gain insight of this particular piece’s history. My condolences for your loss. If this is the same Rudolf.. he is still making people smile years after his passing <3 - Posted by: Kayla (Community Member ) on: May 27, 2023
