ALFRED TRUMBLA With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing after a courageous battle with cancer of Alfred Fred Trumbla on Sunday, July 1, 2007 in the Portage District General Hospital with family at his side. He was 94 years old. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Ida and all of his brothers and sister. Left to cherish his memory are his son Harry (Marilyn) and grandchildren Cory (Kyra), Tracy and Angela and great-grandchildren Travis and Jesse; daughter Laura (Gary) Watson and grandchildren Kelly (Rhea) and Myra and great-grandchildren Cheynne and Mason; several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews and their families. Born May 19, 1913, Fred was raised on the family farm north of Elie. As a young man he purchased and homesteaded his farm south of Oakville. His heart and soul were his farm, where he was able to live until he was 94 years old. Both Fred and Ida loved nothing more than having family visit on the farm and to enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening and playing cards. Fred stated many times what a lucky man he was to have been able to do this. He was so grateful to the family and friends who continued to visit him over the years. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Ken Parker for his personalized care and to Valerica Dubois for giving Dad back his miracle of hearing. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, led by Deacon Bill Parrack. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Fred's memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
