ALICE OLGA KRAHN (nee CLASSEN) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother. Alice was born at the Winnipeg General Hospital on November 7, 1928 and passed away on July 2, 2007. She lived in Manitoba all her life and received her education here. She was a member of Churchill Park United Church. Alice was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Barbara Classen, as well as two brothers, Nick and Henry, and her ex-husband Herman. Alice will be greatly missed by her four children, Dennis (Carol) of Castlegar, BC, grandchildren Jordan, Rachel, Caleb; Doug (Christine); Donnie; and Darlene (Don) McWhirter, grandchildren Austin, Kirsten; sisters, Louise Siemens, Oda Cain (Bud) of Devlin, Ruth Lacharite of California; as well as numerous other family and friends. Alice loved all of her five grandchildren and had many good times with them. She enjoyed watching them play sports, participate in Christmas concerts, piano recitals, etc. She had fun shopping with them to buy toys and other special treats she knew they'd like. Alice travelled by Greyhound Bus to Castlegar, BC to see each of her grandchildren's graduation. She was very proud of their accomplishments and how distinguished they looked! Past hobbies included bowling and she was awarded numerous trophies for high score. She also enjoyed dancing and being at the beach. Alice delighted in travelling to different places - Hawaii, Florida, California, Minneapolis, Fargo, Grand Forks, The Maritimes, Expo 1986, Vancouver, Castlegar, Ontario and within Manitoba. In earlier years Alice worked as a secretary at various offices. She retired from Lord Roberts School as a Teacher's Assistant in 1994 where she had many years of happy memories, good friends and laughs. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses involved in her loving care over the years, but most particularly Drs. Virginia Fraser, Dr. Oscar Domke, Dr. James Johnston and the caring staff of H3 at Health Sciences Centre. Cremation has taken place. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am so fortunate to be able to say that Alice my my first real contact with anyone in Winnipeg. When I was 39 I was accepted to Robson Hall and since my husband couldn't join me until our house out west sold I rented from Alice. She was fun, helpful, friendly and fearless. I think about her often and smile. - Posted by: Barbara Johnson (Friend) on: Jun 30, 2020
