DANIEL MARSDEN July 14, 1928 - July 3, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law Daniel Marsden at the Deer Lodge Centre on July 3, 2007, at the age of 78 years. Dad was predeceased by his wife Eva; sons, Gary and Alexander; special grandson Roger Ledger; parents John and Lucy Marsden; brothers, Hector, Elija, Clifford, Bethel, Barnabas; sister Violet and son-in-law Dave Traverse. Left to cherish his memory are his children and grandchildren, Mary, Evelyn (John), Marlene (Ken), Lydia (George) and Ray, his special daughter whom he nicknamed princess, Caroline (Brian), Lorraine (Mike), Emery (Jose), Hebern, Myrtle (Brian), Warren, Murray; sister Marvel (Colin) Sumner and sister-in-law Edith Sumner, special grandson Jonathan Marsden, 43 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren. Dad was a gentle, caring and loving person who cherished all of his children and grandchildren. Dad was born and raised in Lake St. Martin First Nation. He married mom in 1949 and shortly thereafter became an active fisherman, hunter and trapper. He enjoyed many hunting trips with his son-in-law Dave Traverse. He then became employed at INAC as a janitor for Lake St. Martin School and in the construction of the Gypsumville Canadian Forces Base. Dad then relocated to Winnipeg where he became employed as a janitor for the City of Winnipeg recreation department. In his later years he was dedicated to his role as a grandfather, supporter and advisor to his children and grandchildren. Wake Service and viewing was held on Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West, and Thursday, July 5, 7:00 p.m. in the Lake St. Martin Faith Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the Faith Chapel with Rev. Tom Beardy officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Keith Marsden, Borden Moneyas, Vince Moneyas, Robert Ballantyne, Vernon Traverse and nephew David Sumner. Cross bearer will be son Murray Marsden. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of 6 West Deer Lodge Centre and the St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and support for dad, also to IRTC, EUTC and the community of Lake St. Martin First Nation.
