Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (MARIA) BERGEN November 19, 1912 - July 1, 2007 Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Mom passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Bethania Personal Care Home at the age of 94 years. Mom was born in Woronewschen, Ekaterinoslov, Russia. At the age of 13, she and her family immigrated to Canada and settled in Drake, SK. In 1931, the family moved to Winnipegosis, MB. In 1934, she married Reverend Abram Bergen. They worked hard to provide for their family in those early years. In 1957, they moved into the village of Winnipegosis, and in September of 1965, her husband Abram passed away in a bus accident. It was a difficult time for her, but she persevered. In October of 1999, Mary moved to Winnipeg where she resided until her passing. Mom was predeceased by her husband Reverend Abram Bergen; her son Jacob, and her daughter-in-law Mary Ellen. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories, her children, Corny and Catherine Bergen, George and Laurie Bergen, Martha and Al Martens, Elfrieda Ward, Abe and Paulette Bergen, Tina Bergen, Jake and Terri Bergen, and Anita and Dave Peters along with 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 in the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, Sargent and Garfield, Winnipeg from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a devotional beginning at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Winnipegosis Nordheim Mennonite Church, Winnipegosis, MB. Rev. Abe Krahn and Rev Jake Wiebe will officiate with the interment following in the Nordheim Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 5K9 or to the Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 3S7. The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the Bethania Personal Care Home for all of the loving care that Mom received while she was a resident there, and would like to acknowledge all those who were a part of her care team.
