ALEXANDER URBAIN MARTINEAU March 1, 1923 July 5, 2007 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Alexander Urbain Martineau passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 84 years. Alex will be sadly missed by his daughters, Linda Flanagan (Larry Holton), Cecile Martineau (Carl Sulymka), Diane Martineau and Carol Slota; his sons, Phil (Mary), Larry (Susan) and Richard; his grandchildren, Danny, Kelly, Cheri, Bobbie-Jo, Peter, Nikki, Brett, Trevor, Breanne, Ian, Kim, Kurtis, Shayne, Jennilee and Ethan, and by his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Colby, Jacquellynne, Allison, Taylor-Jae, Dallin, Rune, Chloe and Kaden. Alex is also survived by his sister Sadie Sayers-Clayton and brothers, Roy and George Martineau. He will also be missed by his special friend Pat Carriere. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilmer and Rosa Martineau and his wife Rosa. Alex was born March 1, 1923, in Jasmin, Saskatchewan, to Wilmer and Rosa Martineau. He married Rosa Lamothe in 1944 and together they raised seven children in Transcona. Alex worked as a machinist at the C.N.R. Shops in Transcona, retiring in 1983. Alex (Papa) enjoyed metal detecting and fiddling. His memory will be cherished by his family. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, with Chaplain Paul Martin officiating. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
