FERN RITCHIE July 15, 1914 - June 4, 2007 Fern, in her 93rd year, passed away quickly and quietly, at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC on June 4, 2007. She was predeceased by Bill in 2002, her loving husband of 63 years. She will be remembered with love by her children, Grant (Judy), Harry (Judy), Delle (Ralph); grandchildren, Cam, Christy, Pamela, Matthew, Jeff, Cory, Valdine, Erik, and four great-grandchildren, as well as other family and many many friends. Fern was born in Saskatchewan but spent most of her life in Manitoba. She and Bill moved to Arbutus Ridge in 1989, and in 2002 Fern moved to Victoria. Though small in stature, Fern left a large imprint on the lives of those who knew and loved her. Fern was an award winning teacher, a talented piano player, golfer, curler, dancer, knitter and so much more. Her love of life and music was only surpassed by her love of people. Fern's glass was always half full. The piano was a huge source of joy and inner peace for her, and even advancing age failed to slow her quick step and enquiring mind. She was active in the United Church all of her life; from Warren to St. James to Charleswood to Sparling to Sylvan, Mill Bay, BC. The warmth of her heart, unwavering positive spirit and abiding faith in God is how we will remember her. A memorial service for Fern will be held at Warren United Church, Warren, MB on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Harold King officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to C.N.I.B. with our thanks.
