GWENDOLYN (GWEN) JONES It is with great sadness that the children of Wilma Gwendolyn Jones (Mallory) announce the passing of our beloved mother on July 6, 2007 at the Health Science Centre with her family by her side. Mom leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, children Diane Sladek (Walter), Sandra (Robert), Dale (Jim) Bridgman, Dave (Linda), Ken (Gail), Cheryl, Nancy (Manuel) Sousa, Raymond (Ivy), Casey (Roberta), Lori (Ismael) Peters, Sheila (John) Bakkum, Gary (Tracy) and her 35 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Along with stepbrother Armand Voisard, in-laws; George Jones (Lillian), Shirley and George Friell, Allan and Maria Jones, Barbara Jones, Hilare Vandekerkhove, her long time friends Kay Poitras, Dolores Olson, Ian McKenzie, numerous family and friends will also sadly miss her. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years (Albert); parents, Jean and Marcel Voisard; father Gerald Mallory; sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Len Abel; stepbrother Marcel Junior; grandsons, Jeffery and Marcel. Mom was born in Winnipeg on March 4, 1930. She met the love of her life, Albert and they married on July 19, 1947. Mom and Dad moved to Petersfield in 1984 where they lived many years and developed many long-term friendships. Over the years they opened their home to extended family and friends. Mom enjoyed crochet, arts and crafts, gardening and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed Christmas time, always one to decorate and set up her village. Mom spent her last few years in Selkirk where she continued her open door policy. The last 3 months were spent at Woodlands assisted living complex, which she really enjoyed. We would like to thank Dr N. Antonenko, Selkirk General Hospital, homecare personal, GD3 ward at Health Science Centre for the care they had given her. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Earl Grey Community Centre, 340 Cockburn St, Winnipeg, on Tuesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. George's Anglican Churchyard, Wakefield, Manitoba at 2:30 p.m. We would like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Julie Collings for presiding over the service for Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice, in Mom's memory

  • My dad, Archie Tawns, was Gwen's uncle. Our families knew one another and sometimes Gwen's girls visited us on Kildonan Drive. Gwen was a wonderful, kind lady. Sorry we didn't know she passed. - Posted by: Julie Tawns Rogers (Cousin) on: Aug 21, 2013
