Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGAIL SANDRA BARTON (nee WALLACE) August 13 1946 - July 5 2007 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gail Sandra Barton, peacefully in her sleep, in the early morning of July 5, 2007. She was predeceased by her mother Hazel Wallace in 1976 and her father, Ronald Wallace in 2006. She will be forever missed by her family; husband Don; children, Sandra Young (Todd); son Matthew; and sister Judie Myers (Bruce); grandson Silas and nephews, Evan and Michael as well as David, Paul and Casey; sister-in-law Joan (Tom); brother-in-law Bob (Fran). Gail was born in Thunder Bay Ontario and spent her childhood camping and trout fishing with her family. These experiences influenced Gail's love for the outdoors and it was reflected in her artwork. At an early age Gail knew she wanted to be a flight attendant and worked towards that goal until she was hired by Air Canada in 1967. She was based in Calgary for 2 years before moving to Winnipeg, where she met her husband Don. During her 34 years, Gail enjoyed her travels and represented Air Canada in numerous international events. The highlight of her career was receiving the Award of Excellence as voted on by her peers. During the last part of her career and into her retirement Gail began her 2nd career, which was her artwork. She had an incredible ability to create a wide variety of pieces that included original watercolours of Manitoba prairies and skies, wildlife on birch bark and acrylic abstracts. Her latest pieces were a combination of colour and interpretation. She was never fearful of taking risks in her creations and her work resulted in a wide range of styles. Three years ago, Gail opened her own gallery Curly Willow Gallery and enjoyed showing her works to many friends and customers. Gail was surrounded throughout her life by a variety of loving friends and she especially cherished her times with her family. The arrival of her grandson Silas was special. She loved him dearly. The family thanks the RM of Headingley Paramedics for their professional response and compassion. What a wonderful team of fire and paramedics that we have in Headingley. Also a special thanks to Constable T. Gill of the RCMP Headingley Detachment for her support and understanding in this difficult time. Love you Rembrandt Rest in Peace In keeping with Gail's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. A reception will follow at the Headingley Community Centre, 5353 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dreams Take Flight Box 768 , 355 Portage Ave, Winnipeg R3C 2N2.
