Date of Passing: Jul 04, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD CARRIERE It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Donald Jerome Carrier in Surrey, BC on July 4, 2007 at the age of 52. Don was born in Winnipeg. At the age of 18 his Dad taught him how to drive semi. He taught him well, as he was an owner/operator for 34 years. He worked for Arnold Brothers Transport, Penner International and Big Freight Systems. Don received various awards throughout his driving career. He was professional, loyal and continuous. He hauled deck, van and glass. He was a member of Big Freight's Million Mile Club, something he did over the years several times, traveling in both Canada and USA. Lending a helping hand to a fellow trucker in tarping, taking a stranded motorist to help, or secretly buying a wayward soul a meal, was who Don was. Don married Gayle December 3, 1981 and they live in Richer, MB. His greatest joy came from spending time with his private harem - his wife and three daughters. Being the protective father, he would have liked to stop time and have the girls stay small and at home. Don's blessing increased with five grandchildren. He would no sooner walk through the door then be on the phone being the first to offer babysitting and making arrangements to see his girls and the grandchildren; each one providing us with laughter, pride and joy. Don's family and friends held a special place in his heart. It didn't matter where he was in North America, they would get a phone call to catch up on news and check in to see if there was anything he could do for them. Don is survived by his wife Gayle; daughters, Tanya (Christian), Sarah (Erik) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Kirsten, Gabrielle, Madisyn, Daniel and Brock; his mother Doreen and siblings, Danny (Sylvie), Dennis (Colleen), Kim (Ian), Lynn and Robert; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Don was predeceased by his father Daniel. We love you and thank you for providing us with a life of such heart-warming memories. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste. Anne Legion with ash interment at Green Acres Cemetery.
