LENA RADIGAN Peacefully, with family by her side, on Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Selkirk District General Hospital, Lena Radigan, of Selkirk, and formerly of Portage la Prairie, passed away at the age of 78 years. Funeral service will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, MB on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend John Robertson officiating. The service will terminate at the chapel and interment will be held at a later date. Lena was born on August 29, 1928 near Saskatoon, SK to Jacob and Annie (nee Hyde) Rhode. She was an independent person and at the age of 16 she left home, and worked at various jobs. At the age of 18 she was married and raised two sons and two daughters. She lived in Portage la Prairie for 30 years, retiring from the Manitoba School in 1990. She resided in Selkirk for the past two years. She excelled at knitting and made many of her own patterns. Lena enjoyed gardening, fishing, puzzles, and loved to travel to places like Mexico and Alaska. She would always help others with her time and resources. Because she never had a car or driver's license, Lena was always seen riding her bicycle everywhere she went. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a determined person and would achieve anything she put her mind to, which included obtaining her GED at the age of 65. Predeceased by her parents; son Larry Cunningham; daughter Angel Mault, and two sisters, Annie and Mary. Lena leaves to mourn her passing, son Wade (Vickie) Cunningham of Yorkton, SK; daughter Darlene McDougall of Oakbank, MB; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother Jacob Rhode of Steinbach; one sister Tina of Toronto; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
