MARY PEAREN (nee SHEWAN) Mary Ellen Pearen passed away peacefully at West Park Manor on Monday, July 9, 2007 at the age of 100 years. Mary Shewan was born on February 18, 2007 and was raised at Lauder, MB. She married Noble Pearen on October 16, 1928. They farmed at Lauder until 1948 when they moved to Winnipeg (St. James). Mary enjoyed being a homemaker; she was a great cook and baker. She was always willing to lend a hand or babysit her grandchildren. Her pastimes included knitting, crocheting, bowling and bingo. She was always ready to challenge someone to a game of cribbage. Mary and Noble raised four children: son Cliff and daughters, Violet Ardagh, Bernice Adam and Marilyn Hooper. She was predeceased by Noble, Bernice, grandson Richard Adam and son-in-law Fred Ardagh. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Cliff, daughter-in-law Alayne, daughters, Violet and Marilyn, son-in-law Bob, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Mary was able to celebrate her 100th birthday this past February with almost her whole family in attendance. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and thanks to the wonderful staff at West Park Manor, who took great care of our mother. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to a charity of choice.
