GORDON WILLIAM SPENCE Suddenly on July 6, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, Gordon William Spence of Ashern, MB, passed away at the age of 69 years. Gordon was born on February 13, 1938 and was the second child of Hazel and Edwin Spence of Pebble Beach. Gordon grew up in the Pebble Beach area. He worked at many different jobs around the country and eventually came back to the farm. Gordon loved farming until his eyesight deteriorated and he was forced to quit. Gordon loved to listen to the radio and especially loved old country music. He also loved gospel music and his favourite show was the Sunday Request Show on CRFY Portage. Gordon was a very quiet, unassuming, loving and caring man with a great sense of humour who loved children and his family, and all of his family will dearly miss him. Gordon is survived by his companion and partner of 32 years, Donna; his sons, Blain of Winnipeg, Kevin of Fort McMurray, AB, and Trevor (Tina) of Winnipeg; his mom Hazel of Pebble Beach; his sisters, Audrey Lash of Kitchener, ON, Dianne Norris of Calgary, AB, Arlene (Edmund) Patzer of Winnipeg, Susan (Steve) Courchene of Winnipeg; his brothers, Allan (Rita) Spence of Pebble Beach, Conrad (Florence) Spence of Ashern, and his sister-in-law Kathy Whiting Spence of Vancouver, BC, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Also cherishing his memory are his brothers-in-law, Gerald Buschau of Regina, SK, Robert (Lois) Buschau of Winnipeg, Douglas (Gwen) Buschau of Kamloops, BC, and his sisters-in-law, Doris (Lloyd) McCorriston of Quill Lake, SK, and Terri Buschau of Winnipeg. Gordon was predeceased by his dad Edwin Spence in 1978, and his brother Brian Spence in 2005. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Cremation to follow. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Pallbearers will be Christopher Spence, Jason Spence, Bradley Patzer, Jeremy Patzer, Edmund Patzer and Ivan Hoosier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Chartrand, Wilfred Spence, Gregory Norris, Timothy Norris, Bruce Pottinger and Randy Pottinger. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Steyn, the nurses at Ashern Hospital, and to Home Care for their support and care of Gordon.
