Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNICE MARY KICENKO (nee ADAMIK) Suddenly on Saturday evening, July 7, 2007, at the Arborg Health Centre, Bernice passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years. Bernice will always be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her beloved children, Frances Blahey (Robert) of Winnipeg and Elizabeth Grzenda (Frank) of Arborg; her grandchildren, Cheryl Blahey (Joe Da Silva), Cory Grzenda (Geri), Colin Grzenda (Laura); and her precious great-grandson, whom she adored, Jacob Da Silva; her sister Caroline Hillcoff; sisters and brothers-in-law, Steve Kicenko, Katie Adamik, Ann Hrychyshyn, Mary and Paul Staromansky; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bernice was predeceased by her husband and best friend, William, in December 1980; her parents, Frances and Roman Adamik, Samuel and Magdalena Kicenko; sister Jossie Shewchuk (Karl); brothers, Michael (Rosalia), Paul (Mary), John (Katie), Peter (Caroline), Felix; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Kicenko, Sylvia and Victor Mazar, Michael and Anne Kicenko, Bill Hrychyshyn. Born and raised in Jaroslaw, MB, Bernice moved to Poplarfield with her husband William in July 1942. Here they farmed together and raised their daughters. They retired from farming and moved to Arborg in 1979. Bernice lived in their home and most recently moved to assisted living in Arborg. Here she met many new friends and was looking forward to visits from them. Mom's love of the land showed through her early spring planting of her garden, her constant watering and planting in her flower beds and tending to her grass and shrubs. Mom cherished her grandchildren's visits. Bernice loved having friends drop by and have a cup of tea with her. She treasured all her family and friends, old acquaintances and new and always kept in touch over the phone. A mass celebrating Bernice's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arborg with Reverend Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Arborg. Pallbearers will be Cory Grzenda, Colin Grzenda, Joe Da Silva, Lawrence Adamik, Jim Adamik and Richard Chomokovski. Honorary pallbearers are Geri Grzenda, Laura Woloshyn and John Duka. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Arborg and District Handi-Van, Box 935, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
