LEN CANN It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of Len Cann on Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Deer Lodge Centre. Len was born February 15, 1920 in Assiniboia, SK to Arthur and Edith Cann, the second child and only boy of four children. On July 8, 1941, Len enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers, Canadian Army (active) at Regina, SK. Len went on to serve his country in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was wounded and hospitalized in France in 1945. During his time in England, Len met a young lady named Phyllis Humphries and on July 17, 1945 they were married. This same year, Len and Phyllis moved to Canada where Len worked in the farming community in Moose Jaw. In 1950, Len joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. After 10 years of service, Len was discharged and he and Phyllis, along with their five children (four boys and one girl), moved back to England. Here Len worked as a heavy machine operator until his retirement. Len returned to Canada in 1987 and took up residence with his sister, Evelyn Closs and family. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis; his daughter Judy; and his sisters, Evelyn and Doris. He leaves to mourn his sister Bernice in California; sons, Larry, Roger, Terry and Barry; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Claude Closs; numerous nieces and nephews and his very special friend, Sophie Dacquay. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the Deer Lodge Centre, Chapel, 2109 Portage Avenue.
