HARRY BAKUSKA Suddenly on July 9, 2007 in his 80th year, at Holy Family Nursing Home Harry Bakuska passed away. Harry was born in Winnipeg, the second of four children to Simeon and Maria Bakuska. He attended St. Nicholas School and was a long time parishioner of St. Nicholas Church. Harry was a regular soldier at Easter during the years where they marched with swords drawn to stand guard at Jesus' tomb. Harry was employed as manager with Salisbury House, where he met his future wife Margaret McLaughlin. After they were married, they later moved to Kenora, ON, where he managed the Salisbury House for a number of years. Upon their move back to Winnipeg Harry took employment with the Winnipeg School Division until his retirement. Over the years Harry and Marge enjoyed many excursions to visit his in-laws in Glasgow, Scotland. Harry is survived by his sister Nettie Paluck, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Margaret, brother Michael (Stella), sister Janet (Chuck), and brother-in-law Frank. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bannerman and Arlington Street with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Bakuska, Gregory Walker, Brian Olynik, and Toby Desmarais. In lieu of flowers donations in Harry's memory may be made to St. Nicholas Church or to Holy Family Nursing Home.
