RICHARD (RICK) THOMAS MALASCHUK It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, husband, father and grandfather Rick on July 17, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was 56 years old. Rick was predeceased by his beloved Baba. He is survived by his wife Laura; son Kevin (Megan), granddaughter Karli; son Craig (Tammy); parents John and Olga; and the family pet Peej. Rick started firefighting at West Kildonan Fire Hall in April of 1972. He was known at #17 Hall for 13 years. He eventually became a lieutenant and progressed onto retiring as a Captain at #24 Station in January 2003. Rick was an avid hockey father, coaching and following both sons’ hockey careers from minor to university. Rick's life was made full by his love and dedication to his family. His family always came first before himself. He was well loved by many friends and coworkers. They enjoyed his great sense of humour and easy-going attitude. He was looking forward to spending the years ahead watching his new granddaughter Karli grow. We're sure he'll be watching from heaven. Rick now joins in heaven his beloved Baba. Godspeed our love, until we meet again. A private family service has taken place.
