Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRIS MERCIA HALL Peacefully, on July 11, 2007, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Iris Hall passed away at the age of 85 years. Iris was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Lucy Borrow of Winnipeg; son Stanley in 1954; and husband Bill Hall in 1986. Left to mourn her passing are sons, Ivan (Marlene) of St. Albert, AB, and Peter (fiancée Joanne); grandchildren, Andrew and Irene of St. Albert, Robert of Winnipeg, Jenny (David) and Bryan (Raelene). Iris was born September 24, 1921, at 16 Inkster Blvd. in Winnipeg. She attended Luxton School and St. John's High School where she was schoolmates with Monty Hall and Burton Cumming's mother. After graduating from Business College she worked at Manitoba Rolling Mills and later at Manitoba Bridge. She met Bill Hall while working at Manitoba Rolling Mills, later married in 1948 and took up residence in Selkirk. Iris was always an active participant in the community. She was a volunteer at the old Selkirk General Hospital Canteen; a longtime member of Christ Church, Selkirk, where she was a member of the Chancel Guild/W.A.; a member of the church vestry and church secretary for many years starting with Roland Wood through Archdeacon Hoad. She was also a member of the afternoon Ladies Bowling League; of Eastern Star for many years and was recently presented with her lifetime membership. Iris was past Chairperson of the Gordon Howard Senior Centre and volunteer receptionist for many years. While at Gordon Howard Senior Centre, Mom helped get the LifeLine program started in Selkirk. Mom was always a socializer, visiting family and friends and chauffeuring friends to activities, playing cards with her friends at Lions and at Betel Home. Mom's family was her pride and joy and she loved the time she was able to spend with them. Thank you to the staff of Betel Home; Dr. Demsas; the staff at Selkirk General Hospital and Gilbart's Funeral Home for their kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Iris's memory may be made to Christ Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. We will miss you. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Christ Church, Selkirk, with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating.
