DOUGLAS COLLIN ROY BALDWIN November 2, 1922 - July 10, 2007 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Douglas Baldwin, beloved husband, father and grandfather at the age of 84. Doug will always be remembered for his incredible wit, sense of humour, his entrepreneurial spirit and the joy he brought to many lives he touched upon. Doug was an avid hockey player, spending many years playing in the NHL. He was inducted into the HOCKEY HALL OF FAME in 2001. Doug's adventurous spirit did not stop at hockey; he owned the Shoreliner Hotel in Gimli, Manitoba, and always had a great story to share with the regulars. He was a general contractor building multi-tenant buildings and warehouses across Western Canada. Doug's most infamous venture is the Gimli Golf Country Club where he loved spending hours tending, tinkering, socializing and cajoling with the members. Many bar-b-ques and golf tournaments were enjoyed. Doug will be missed by a huge family consisting of his children, stepchildren, grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Doug will mostly be missed by his beloved wife Gail Baldwin. Thanks to the staff at Oakview Place for all the time and attention given Doug during his stay and a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital that cared for Doug during his final hours. A funeral service is being held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007, at the Gilbart Funeral Home, 50-1st Ave., Gimli, Manitoba, with a luncheon to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Gimli Golf Country Club. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
