Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDELLA STAVECHNY (nee ZIEMIANSKI) Peacefully on July 5, 2007, Idella passed away at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home at the age of 89 years. Idella will be sadly missed by her daughter Lorraine (Neil) McTavish; son Brian Stavechny; grandchildren, Neil (Lisa), Bill (Gisela), Bruce and Laura McTavish, Arwen and Jean-Nicholas Stavechny; great-granddaughters, Jinty, Briagha, Aliya, and Quinn and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Nicholas, her nine brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Bernadette, and several of her nieces and nephews. Idella was born January 10, 1918 on the family farm near Oakburn, MB. She lived most of her life in Winnipeg, where she was active in the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. She was a member of the Canadian Daughters where she was on the drill team, competing in cities across Canada. Idella was an active member of the Conservative Party especially during the Duff Roblin era. She bowled for many years with the St. Ed's Bowling League. In the early years of St. Josephat's Ukrainian Catholic Church she, along with other members, raised money by having a Ukrainian Food Booth at the Red River Exhibition at Polo Park. Nick and Idella spent many winters in Hawaii. The Family extends deep appreciation to the staff of Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home for their kindness and care of our mother, grandma, and baba. Prayers will be said on Monday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church, 590 Alverstone St. with Rev. Fr. Nestor Yakiwchuk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Idella's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
