Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD BENJAMIN MACDONALD It is with great sadness we announce the passing away of Richard Benjamin MacDonald peacefully with family at his side after a sudden, short and very courageous battle with cancer on July 10, 2007. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Verla; children Jeff, Donna (Doug) and Craig (Karen); his grandchildren Sydnee, Morgan, Rees and Zane; his sister Micki (Mel). He will also be remembered by his in-laws, Deannie, Gladys, Alma, Ron, Fern, Joe, Raymond, Vivien and Glenn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was born and lived most of his life in the Franklin/Minnedosa area. He received his Diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. He met and married his life partner Verla in 1959 when he was a pilot/pilot instructor in Winnipeg. They raised their family on the family farm near Franklin. After retiring from farming he took a job with Delta Waterfowl and this job became a passion. He continued to delay retirement as no one loved his job more. Dick was a people person and enjoyed volunteering with many organizations. He believed strongly in volunteering in your community and passed that value on to his family. He had many interests and he and Verla enjoyed friendships with people of all ages. Grandchildren were very important to him and he enjoyed watching Sydnee play rugby, Rees and Zane play hockey and golfing with Morgan. His life was very full. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Minnedosa Community Conference Centre. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff at Minnedosa District Hospital and GH3 Ward at Health Sciences Centre for all their wonderful care. Should friends desire a memorial donation may be made to Delta Waterfowl, Unit 22-62 Scurfield Blvd., Winnipeg MB, R3Y 1M5 or a charity of one's choice. White's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
