VLADIMIR JASENOVEC (WALTER JASEN) Walter passed away at the age of 83 years on Friday, July 13, 2007. Walter is survived by grandsons, James, Gregory and Douglas; great-granddaughter Ema Butters of Vancouver, great-granddaughter Kristina and daughter-in-law Diana Jasen of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Olga; daughter Lana Butters in Winnipeg; son Alexander in Calgary. Walter was born June 22, 1924 in Belarus. He lost his father, Leonid and mother Anastasia (Sabodaz) when he was a young boy. He was the youngest in the family of seven and was predeceased by all. In 1943 he met Olga, was married on June 20, 1943. In labour camp in Germany, his daughter Lana was born. In 1948 they tried to make a living in Brazil, but decided to look for another place . In 1954 they immigrated to Canada, worked on the farm in Alberta, afterwards moved to Winnipeg. He worked for CNR before retiring in 1989. Prayers will be held on Monday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 643 Manitoba Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Peter Boitchouk officiating. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter's memory to the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church would be appreciated. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
