REGENE MARIE HURD Surrounded by family, Regene (Gene) Hurd, aged 76 years, lost her courageous battle to cancer July 12, 2007 at the Riverview Health Centre. Gene was born November 9, 1930 in Vita, MB and grew up in Woodmore, MB where she met and married the love of her life Doug Hurd. The newlyweds hopped a train to Copper Mountain, BC and returned to Winnipeg in 1952 where they lived and raised their five children. Gene was active outside of the home working several jobs, the last being Canadian Tire for many years. She lived life to the fullest enjoying traveling, dancing, playing piano and spending time with friends and family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Doug; grandson Justin and leaves to mourn sons, Gary (Bonnie), Darrell (Niki), Hector and daughters, Diane (Bernard) and Cheryl as well as many beautiful and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on July 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Greenridge United Church, Greenridge, MB with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Special thanks goes to the Palliative Care Unit at the Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion.
