VERNA ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG Peacefully on July 15, 2007, Verna passed from this life. She was predeceased by her husband Bert; infant son Bruce; her parents Laura and Robert Thomson and all her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Betty Lawrence, Barbara and Rae, Walter and Margaret and John and Marge. She will be missed and mourned by her daughter Dawn (Hamish), granddaughter Jessica, grandson Gowan (Liz) and great-grandchildren, Amber and Jesse as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in MacNutt, SK, where her parents homesteaded, she moved to Winnipeg at an early age. She was educated at St. Joseph's Academy. She was employed as a secretary at National Drugs prior to the Second World War. After raising her child, she worked at the T. Eaton Co. in the Complaints Department. She taught Sunday School for many years and volunteered at the Municipal Hospitals. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and baker. Family was all-important and she kept all members connected to each other. Many thanks to the second floor staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge (especially Sherri, Tita and Evelyn) for their care and support. Services will be held Thursday, July 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers: Messrs Gowan Lusk, Greg Usenko, Grant Usenko, Matthew Usenko, Kevin Hardy and Terry Ripley. If so desired, contributions may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation in Verna's name. Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.
