HELEN DOROTHY LUMSDEN nee Melnyk (Kisil) Peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Concordia Place Personal Care Home, Helen passed away at the age of 96 years. She was predeceased by her very loving husband Alex in 1996, brother Jacob, sisters, Nellie, Anne and Rosie in infancy, son Ted and daughter Doreen. Helen will be in the memories of her sister Marie Burkowski, nieces and nephews. Grama will be missed by her grandchildren, John Kisil (great-granddaughter Madison), Loralei (David) Bedu, Kimberly Shillington (Rob Milani) and Don (Lynne) Shillington (great-granddaughter Maria). Grama will be remembered for her independence, sense of humour, wit and giving nature. She was fortunate to have met Alexander Lumsden and married in 1961. Together they travelled and lived in Kelowna, Victoria, Florida and Winnipeg. Alex was the love of her life and she cared for him impeccably. His passing in 1996 was a great loss to her as was the loss of her two children. Thank you to Peter and Anne Kisil for their support over the years. Our family expresses gratitude to the staff of Concordia Place for their care, especially the past two weeks. Special thanks to Mr. Joseph Griffiths for his compassion and care which meant a great deal to Grama and Kimberly. As per Helen's wishes, immediate cremation will take place and no service will be held. Please remember Grama in your own way. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children's Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C-3J2, would be appreciated.
