FRANK DERRICK PAUL HAYWARD October 26, 1924 - July 19, 2007 After a short illness Frank passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, July 19, 2007. Born in Dauphin, Manitoba to parents, Herbert and Eliza and was predeceased by his wife Norene. Frank is survived by his sons, Wilf (Dale), Wayne (Barbara), Martin (Barbara); grandchildren, Christine, Angela, Michael, Craig, Sarah, Joel, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Brenna, Megan and Raine. Also predeceased by his second wife Nettie, Frank is survived by stepson Bill (Joyce). Frank is also survived by his sisters Gwen (Thunder Bay), Margie (Toronto) and Mary (Winnipeg). Dad was always available to assist others. In his early married life he spent numerous days coaching little league baseball and hockey at Glenlee Community Club. His passion for community spirit led him to be President of the club and take on the job to rebuild the hall in the 1960s. Dad was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3870 for a number of years. His main claim to fame was being the caller for bingo. Dad also loved the outdoors, especially fishing and enjoying his cottage at Lac Du Bonnet. Every November it was time to visit Melita and participate in deer hunting. But everyone knew it was his excuse to visit family and friends, tell stories of old times, and have dinner across the border. Dad started his life career in construction with Bird Construction. Rising from a carpenter apprentice to Project Superintendent, he spent 44 years in the industry. His overall pet project however, was the Monarch Life Building on Broadway which he always said he was on from the start to the finish. Dad represented the company in Swan River, Thunder Bay, and many other Canadian locations. Also he was involved with the special projects division at Bird in the 1970s and 1980s working with clients on projects such as Hudson Bay House and Continental Can. His clients respected his honesty, attention to detail, appreciated his sub trades and his commitment to their expectations. Memorial Service for Dad will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery, #1 Highway East at Navin Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3 or a charity of your choice GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
