JOHANNA FREJEK December 31, 1920 - July 18, 2007 Peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, with her family by her side, Johanna Frejek of Lac du Bonnet, aged 86 years, went to be with her Lord and Saviour. Johanna will be sadly missed by her loving husband Peter of 63 years, her daughters Rose (Danny), Marie (Bob), Jackie (son-in-law Bryant); grandmother (Baba) of Michael (Cinzia), Sherry (Harvey), Lisa (Derek), Jason (Caroline), Kimberley (Ryan); and her special angels, great-grandchildren Sindi, Alexandria and Mikey, Ashlee, Brendan, and Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sisters of Ukraine and her only son Walter, and granddaughter Lillian. Johanna was born in the Ukraine and at the age of 20 years was taken from her family during the war to work in Germany. There she met her soul mate and husband Peter and they were married in 1944. In 1949, they relocated to France and in 1951, they came to Canada and settled in Pointe du Bois to raise their family. Mom worked for Winnipeg Hydro until her retirement. They moved to Lac du Bonnet in 1982. Mom was an amazing wife, mom and Baba whose first love was her family and she loved us all with an unfailing, unconditional love and was always there for us. Mom always smiled and encouraged everyone with a kind word from her heart. She was always there to give a helping hand to whoever needed and had the gift of hospitality to everyone that came to her home. She loved to bless her guest with a feast. She was known as Baba to many, young and old, and was also known for her heart of gold and hugs and kisses. Mom was truly an angel from heaven who brightened our lives by being a great wife, perfect mom and loving Baba to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks goes to Dr. Van Gend, Dr. Ayad and all the wonderful staff at the Pinawa Hospital for the excellent care given to Mom during her last days. Also many thanks to the homecare for all the years of excellent care. Prayers and viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m at the Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m., also at the church, with Rev. Fr. Mirek Szynal presiding. Interment will follow in the Lac du Bonnet cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Pinawa Hospital CancerCare or Canadian Diabetes.
