EDWARD LOW Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the age of 98. He was the last surviving member of a large pioneer family of ten boys and one girl. Ed will always be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Dorothy (George Ellis) and Audrey (Stan Fulham); his 11 grandchildren, Marilyn, Glen, Carol, Laureen, Norma, David, Richard, Dean, Dawn, Heather and Ted, as well as his great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Doris (Highfield), his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Pat Sherritt and his granddaughter Cathy. Ed's parents, Thomas and Mary Jane Low, were early pioneer farmers in the Bayfield District near Foxwarren, Manitoba. Ed, too, faced the challenges of farm life, as he and Doris began their family in the Dirty Thirties. In addition to farming, Ed found time to play the saxophone in a dance band, play hockey, fish, hunt and curl. He was skilled in woodworking and photography. In later life, Ed and Doris were able to travel extensively, from coast-to-coast and from Florida to Alaska. After retiring from the farm, Doris and Ed lived in Brandon for several years before moving to Winnipeg. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Golden West Centennial Lodge for their compassionate care of Ed during the final two years of his life. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster United Church, Foxwarren, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honour to the Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2Y 0S8; CancerCare Manitoba or to charity of your choice.
