Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMRS. MARGUERITE WEBSTER On Wednesday, July 11th, 2007, Mrs. Marguerite Mary Patricia Webster (nee Doyle) passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg. Marguerite was born on February 19, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec, the third child of Lillian Agnes (Laderoute) and Charles Arthur Doyle. She attended Catholic parochial school in St. Lambert and, as a young woman, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War, attaining the rank of Corporal. It was at this time that she met Willard Web Kirkwood Leany Webster of Deloraine, Manitoba. Web was a Flight Instructor with the RCAF and was smitten by Marguerite while on leave in Montreal. They were married on May 14, 1943. While with the RCAF, Marguerite trained as a dental hygienist and medical assistant in Montreal. After the war, Web graduated in Forestry Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. The couple and their young family, Sandra Jean, born in Montreal and Anne Marguerite, born in Fredericton, moved to Winnipeg where Web began his career with the Manitoba Ministry of Mines and Natural Resources. It was in Winnipeg that their son, Ross Willard, and daughter, Kathleen Louise, were born. Marguerite was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong learner and had many interests including skiing, skating, golfing, pottery and knitting. She also enjoyed a good game of bridge! She was always generous with her time, was active in the Catholic Women's League and, as her children grew, volunteered countless hours at the Winnipeg Rehab Centre and the Victoria Hospital. In her retirement years, Marguerite travelled with her husband to Hawaii, Texas, the Carolinas, Portugal, Mexico, and for many years wintered in Victoria, British Columbia. She flirted with roller blading in her eighties, Tai chi in her nineties and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Seniors Club at 1280 Pembina Hwy. Her heart always held a special place, however, for the family cottage at Moose Lake, Manitoba. After the passing of her husband, Web (sadly in October of 2001), Marguerite continued to travel with her granddaughter Britt to see the family in Utah, to Mexico with Ross, Krys and Britt, and memorably, to Montreal to visit with her niece Patricia (Doyle) and family. Yet, her most anticipated trip always remained the annual trek to Moose Lake for the Webster-Shepard Reunion with daughter Sandra (Chase) and the grandchildren. Marguerite will be missed by her daughter, Sandra, and son-in-law, Chase Shepard, residing in Utah, and their six children Sarah Perry, Charles (Jen) Shepard, Daniel (Sara) Shepard, Margaret (Justin) Beardall, David (Terra) Shepard, Jenny Shepard, Lane (Katie) Shepard and 11 great-grandchildren. In Winnipeg, she will be missed by her son, Ross Webster, daughter-in-law Krystyna Baranowski, and their daughter, Brittany Aleksandra. She will also be lovingly remembered by the extended Webster family in Manitoba, BC, and California, and in Montreal by her niece Patricia (Doyle), husband Bill, her great-niece Samantha, and nephew, Johnnie (Doyle). As a friend of Marguerite recently wrote to the family: She was a fine and gracious lady . Our thanks to the 5th floor staff of Victoria General Hospital and in particular to Dr. Thorlakson for his compassion and understanding. Funeral services will be held at St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
