Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ROSENBERG GUREVICH It is with profound sadness that Elizabeth's family announces her passing on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at age 84. She is survived by her loving husband, Jacob Gurevich; her son, Ruben, and wife, Elizabeth Kovacs-Gurevich; her grandson, Alex, and wife Rhonna; her granddaughter Lisa, her husband Mark Sabin, and their daughter Sophie; Alex and Lisa's mother, Gretje, and her husband Bob Kormis; her brothers: Ernesto; Meyer and his wife Shoshanna; Ytzhak and his wife Susana; Haim and his wife Miriam; her sister Norah and husband David Shapira; her sister-in-law Celia Rosenberg; her sister-in-law Dora Gurevich; her cousin Sarah Spivak; a large extended family of nephews, nieces, and their families; her dear friends, Ruben and Daisy Pagani; and many, many others. Elizabeth was born in Marghita, Romania, and was brought to Montevideo, Uruguay at age 9. On August 23, 1942, she married Jacob Gurevich. In 1973, Jacob and Elizabeth moved to Winnipeg to be near their son Ruben, who, at the time, was the Founding Music Director of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, and the Principal Guest Conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and his family. Soon after, Jacob became Principal Second Violin and Personnel Manager of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. On January, 2006, Jacob and Elizabeth moved to St. Catharines, Ontario, once again to be near their son and his family. Elizabeth was an exceptional person, whose physical frailty could not hide the inner strength and the depth of her soul; her loving disposition, dignity, and integrity were such that earned her the love and the respect of all those who were fortunate enough to come in contact with her, to get to know her, and to bask at the warmth of her heart. Her mortal remains were put to rest at the B'Nai Israel Cemetery in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is, and will always be, with us. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
