OSCAR LAMOUREUX On July 20, 2007 Oscar Lamoureux went to take his place with his little flower, Therese whom he lost 11 months ago. Oscar leaves to mourn 10 children, Sandra (George) Desjarlais, Caroline (Mieczyslaw) Swistak, Joan Oliver, Glen, Dean (Marilyn), Robert (Kelly), Albert (Darlene), Oscar Jr. (Carman), Louise (Darryl) Hancock and Terry (Tammy). There are 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dad certainly always paid attention to the children and they will truly miss him. Also left to mourn are his three sisters, Florence Belyk, Annette Freeman, Laura Palmquist of Winnipeg and brothers, Tony and Russell of Calgary Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife Therese (Terry), August 14, 2006; son Wade in 1980, great-grandson Vance Desjarlais 2005; his mother Yvonne (nee Larence); father Joe Lamoureux; brothers, Jules (Butch), Raymond and Alec. Oscar was born in Oak Point in 1924, he attended Clarkleigh School and in 1931 when the family moved to the homestead, 2.5 miles north of Oak Point, he then attended Gascon school at the Quarry. In 1944 Oscar enlisted in the Armed Forces, luckily for us he was never assigned and instead started his own army of children when he met and married Therese Roy in 1948. They had 11 children in 15 years. Oscar in his youth did those jobs of the times, fisherman and trapper. After marriage he drove delivery truck for the City Dray. In 1962 after the 9th child was born, Oscar studied to get his 1st class engineering papers for heating and boilers. The Winnipeg School Division #1 then hired him where he worked as a custodian till retirement in 1986. He started at Somerset school, Grant Park High, Tecumseh (for kindergarten age), and lastly, Argyle a school for pregnant girls. Upon retirement Oscar moved to his hobby farm in Woodlands, where he did gardening, hunting, woodworking, became a collector of other people's junk and inventor. His most famous invention is the wrap around chain version of the club. Oscar was a very funny man he always had a joke to tell and could entertain you for hours. His favorite pastime was playing bingo and it had no meaning once he lost his Bingo Buddy. So with mixed emotions the family would like you to join us in the celebration of his life at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Monday, July 23, at 8:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 355 Andrews off Mountain Avenue on Tuesday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow. For donations, please do so to the charity of your choice or to Heaven's Little Angels Foundation in memory of Vance Desjarlais (204-282-2388). CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
