Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY PETERS 1928 - 2007 Peacefully on July 20, 2007 Henry passed into the presence of the Lord, at peace with God; his loving wife at his side. Henry will be missed by his wife Lucia; his son Jason; his daughter-in-law Teresa (Terri); grandchildren Jordan Henry (eight), Cole Brian (four), and Rachel Elizabeth (two). Also his brother Bernie and sister-in-law Sally; sisters, Margaret, Kaethe, Marial; brother-in-law Gerhardt, and sister-in-law, Mary Peters, plus many nieces, nephews and friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Margarete; brothers, Peter and John; sisters Jutta and Elizabeth. Henry was born into a German family in Blumengart, Ukraine, on October 12, 1928. Henry was one of nine children. In 1943 the family fled to Leipzig, Germany. In 1948 Henry came to Canada with his siblings John and Jutta, then in 1950 he came to Winnipeg. In the fall of 1950 Henry met Lucia Pflanz whom he married on July 4, 1953. He worked for McCurdys and later Supercrete for a total of over 40 years. Henry was overjoyed when in 1973 he became a Father to his and Lucia's son, Jason Mark. Throughout his life, Henry and his family loved to travel. Vacations which included, Germany, New Orleans, Wisconsin Dells, Disney World, Hawaii, and many trips to BC. Throughout Henry's life he always worked hard and played hard, enjoying life. As a boy Henry had a great love of horses. As he grew he enjoyed hunting and camping with friends and family. Henry took great joy in maintaining his home and yard in the Woodhaven area where he and Lucia lived for the last 37 years. He took nightly walks throughout the neighborhood with his friend Rollie. He also stayed active by dancing and visiting with his friends at the German Club where he had been a member since the 1950's. Recently Henry became an Opa and forged many wonderful memories with his Grandchildren. Henry was a very loving husband to Lucia and father to his son Jason and Terri. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Grace Hospital for their dedicated and faithful care they provided to Henry during the last three and a half months of his life following his stroke on April 3, 2007. Funeral will be held on Wednesday July 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Corner of Walnut and Wolseley). Officiated by Pastor Brian Brglez. Viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service, followed by the reception. The interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. For those who wish, donations may be made in Henry's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
