HENRY JOHN SKYNNER 1959 - 2007 It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of Henry John Skynner after a long valiant battle with cancer. John leaves to mourn his loving wife Carol and sister Carla. John was predeceased by his mother Kathleen and his father Henry John. John was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, March 3, 1959, where he was raised. He completed his high school education at Vincent Massey Collegiate and then attended the University of Manitoba where he received an Honour's Degree, followed by a Master's Degree in Political Studies. In 1991 he joined the Department of National Defence as a Defence Policy Analyst, where he served in numerous postings. In 2006, John received the Deputy Minister's commendation for outstanding service. In his final posting he was seconded to the Strategic Planning Bureau at the Department of Foreign Affairs. John served as a reserve officer, first with the Fort Garry Horse in 1983 and subsequently with the Regiment d'Hull and the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, having received the Queen's Commission as a Lieutenant. John was an active and devoted Freemason. He was initiated, advanced and admitted into Acacia Lodge No. 561 in 1991. He served as Worshipful Master of his Lodge in 2000 to 2001 and again in 2004 to 2005. As a member of the Craft, he was particularly active in many benevolent projects, especially in support of the Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Friday, July 27 at 11:30 a.m. Brethren are requested to wear regalia. Même si c'est tard comme condoléances, mais il faut mieux tard que jamais. Je vous présente mes sincères condoléances pour la perdre d'un être cher à vous. Monsieur Skynner a laissé très bonne impression sur moi,puisque j'ai retenu son nom parmis des centaines, durant son séjour à l'école de langue à Ottawa où j'ai appris beaucoup de lui dans nos conversations enrichissantes au quotidien. C'était une personne humble et très humaine qui aimait sa partie. Que dieu l'accepte parmis les siens.
