WALTER DERPAK May 4, 1920 - July 24, 2007 Peacefully on July 24th, Wally passed away with his family by his side. Dad was predeceased by our Mom, the love of his life, Edith on December 10, 1998. Wally was born in 1920 in Winnipeg. In 1943 while stationed in Ottawa with the Air Force he met and married Edith. They lived in Ottawa until the end of the war and then moved to Winnipeg in 1945. Together they raised four daughters who were so very proud to have him as their father. Wally worked on the passenger trains with CPR and later VIA and retired in 1983 after 43 years of service. He had an amazing memory, and loved to share stories of his many adventures. Wally loved Monday night card night, fishing, spending time at the lake in Kenora and Sunday dinners with his family. He was happiest when his family was around, especially his grandchildren who never failed to bring a smile to his face. Dad was a kind caring person who always saw the best in people and rarely complained. Special thanks to the Russell boys and Lloyd Girman who never failed to be there when Dad needed them. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Duerksen, the staff at Concordia Hospital and the many wonderful workers who later helped us to care for Dad in his home. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Wendy (Bill) Bradley, Kenora, ON, Gail (John) Heinrichs, Edmonton, AB, Cathy (Jim) Russell and Debbie (Allan) Schepens both of Winnipeg. He will also be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren Kim, Krista, Allison, John, Chris, Sarah and Kyle; sister Vicky Berry and many special nieces, nephews, neighbours and good friends. Cremation has taken place, a Memorial Service to celebrate Wally's life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 500-55 Donald St., R3C 1L8 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 www.klassenfuneralhome.com
