He found his roots in the trucking industry, which he loved and was employed for 42 years. As a young man, he began his career as a billing clerk with Motorways in 1956; he started Cougar Freight Systems in May 1979 and eventually retired as Vice-President of Tri-Line Freight Systems in 1998. John was a huge sports fan, particularly when it came to hockey and golf. Big John was one of the founding members of the St. James Canadians Junior Hockey Team as well as AAA hockey in Winnipeg. He enjoyed spending his time at Sandy Hook Golf Course with his friends and family in the summer months and Myrtle Beach, SC, in the winter months. Surfing the internet for Old Motorways pictures Saw John Lewicki's obituary. I didn't know him very well except that he's the man that hired me when I went to work for Cougar. Always thought him very fair. I was saddened a bit knowing he passed. He's one of the good guys a person get's to know through out one's life.. Hope to meet you again Mr. Lewicki - Posted by: Emil Pellerin (former Cougar O/O ) on: Sep 02, 2015

John was my father-in-law. Before John's daughter Deb and I got married, John and I played many games of golf . At our wedding, John told everyone when it comes to golf his advice was take two months off and then quit. John, I am sure you are aware my game is getting better. I finally beat Muriel by one stroke. I miss and think about you every day. It was a great ride and I am glad I was a small part of the ride. Have good game in Heaven. John was my boss for a number of years before retiring. Instead of the usual intimidating caustic person your boss can be he was very open, very supportive and had a large hand in helping me develop some of the goals our division needed in order to grow. Firstly he was a good friend, a person this world will miss, One of his favourite lines was "It sure was a good ride" something he said when he retired. ENJOY YOUR RIDE TO HEAVEN JOHN!!!!! - Posted by: Dave Wright (Co-Worker) on: Jul 31, 2007
