HARRY KINCZYLO Peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Portage District General Hospital, Harry Kinczylo of Portage la Prairie passed away at the age of 86 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Michael Strilec officiating. The service will terminate at the chapel with a family interment taking place at a later time in Hillside Cemetery. Harry was born on February 14, 1921 son of John and Katherine Kinchylo at Glenella, Manitoba. He resided at Glencairn with his family and attended school. He then helped on the farm and as a labourer on the CNR. In 1942 he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served in Sicily, France and Holland. He returned to Canada in 1946, residing in Portage. He became employed with the Railway for a few years, then worked on a few farms and later with the ANAF Veterans Association. He also helped with the Portage Terriers as Equipment manager for a few years. Harry was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption, the ANAF Veterans Unit # 13, and the Herman Prior Center. In his earlier years, he had played soccer and baseball. He enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage. Predeceased by his parents; his brothers Michael, Henry; sisters Annie Yacucha, Mary Perekinczuk, Nellie Booth and Helen Leslie; he leaves to mourn his passing his sister Eva Kalian of Portage, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Hedden and all of the Staff at the Portage District General Hospital for the care Harry received during his stay.
