LLOYD W. MCKENZIE Peacefully, on July 26, 2007, Lloyd McKenzie passed away at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his father and mother Hugh and Clara McKenzie. He leaves behind a sister, Jean (Arthur Hobbs), two nephews, Ian (Beverly) and Paul (Beth), and a niece Cheryl (Riley Barkman), also four grandnephews, one grandniece, four great-grandnephews, two great-grandnieces and two great-great-grandnephews. Lloyd served with distinction in the RCAF in Europe during the Second World War, was shot down over Germany in early 1942 and spent two and a half years as a Prisoner of War. His love of aviation and mechanics led him to continue his career as an aeromechanic in many Canadian northern areas, in Eastern United States, as well as with Midwest Air in Winnipeg and with Canada Department of Transport. Lloyd retired to become an avid hobby farmer and dog breeder in West St. Paul. He loved his animals, especially his Arab horses. He cherished his local community and rural friends, his association with the United Church in Stony Mountain and with the members and activities of local Royal Canadian Legion. A memorial service for Lloyd will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31 in the United Church, 9 Main Street, Stony Mountain. Lloyd's ashes will be interred at 2:00 p.m. that same day in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Grateful thanks are extended to the staff members of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, who provided such outstanding care to Lloyd while he lived there. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the Canadian Red Cross. Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 1291 McGillivray Blvd www.thomsoninthepark.com 925-1120
