Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES FRASER BROOKS (JIM) Peacefully, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the Maples Personal Care Home, Jim Brooks passed away at the age of 81 years. Jim was predeceased by his wife Bette in February 20, 2002 as well as an infant son Wayne. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Rick (Pat), Brent (Lori), grandchildren: Lyndsay, Kristy (Mike) Basarab, and Eric. He will also be remembered by his friend Carol Jones, sisters-in-law, Shirley (Bill) Manvell, Joyce Taylor, Elsie (Ross) Davidson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and dear friends. Jim served in the Canadian Navy in the Second World War and continued on to work for Canadian National Railway as a conductor for 43 years, retiring in 1986. Jim and Bette retired to the family cottage in Spruce Bay and built many great memories with family and friends. We will miss Dad's flowers and the huge garden that fed the neighborhood. They enjoyed many winters in Chandler, Arizona amongst their fellow snowbirds many of who were retired railroaders. After Mom passed away Dad met Carol and they enjoyed the last five years together. His biggest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren grow and being able attend his granddaughter's wedding most recently. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, with a private interment following at a later date in the family plot at Transcona Cemetery. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Maples Personal Care Home 2East, in particular Diane and Marcie for their care and support. We Love You Dad and Grandpa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim to the charity of one's choice. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.glenlawn.ca.
