ARTHUR (ARTIE) HAROLD SWEETLAND Art passed away on July 27, 2007 at 63 years of age at his home in Lundar, MB. Art was born on August 23, 1943 in Eriksdale and lived all his life in the Lundar area. On May 21, 1977 he married Darlene Halldorson and this year they celebrated their 30th anniversary. Art began working on the family farm at a very early age and worked all of his life on construction, mainly on powerline for B.A.C.M. and on pipeline for various companies. Art's biggest love was football. He enjoyed attending many games and especially his trips to the Grey Cup with his buddy John. Art enjoyed fiddle music and the Saturday night Polka Party. Art is survived by his loving wife Darlene; his daughters, Leona (Sam) and Carla (Stewart). He was a loving Papa to his babies Sydny and Kianna. Art was so proud and excited about the arrival of his first grandson Kade Arthur on July 26, 2007. He is also survived by his mother Olive; sisters, Sandra (Cliff) Pott, Wendy (Al) Budge, Arla (Fred) Brandson; brothers, Daryl (Sharon), Larry (Marla); brothers-in-law, Murray (Lillian) Halldorson and Donny (Joyce) Halldorson; sisters-in-law, Patsy (Bob) Roberts and Judy (Bob) Gleich; his godchildren, Bobby (R.J.), Mark, Misty Sweetland and Laura Brandson-Vigfusson, his girls, Jackie Torgerson and Leanne Malcolm. Artie will be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father Herb, his mother and father-in-law Irene and Leo Halldorson. Honorary pallbearers are R.J. Mark, Misty Sweetland, Laura Brandson-Vigfusson, Farrell Pott, Chris and John Mark. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lundar Legion Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Special thanks to Barry and Irene Danielson, Annette Mark and all the Home Care workers. If one so desires, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Art's memory.
