DORIS IRENE MOFFAT On Friday, July 27, 2007 at the age of 71, Doris passed away in her room at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, with her loving family by her side. Remaining to forever cherish Doris' memory are her devoted husband of 54 years Roy Russell Moffat; six children, Suzanne Morris (Steve) of Vernon, BC, Deborah Eiriksson of Portage la Prairie, Robert Moffat (Cynthia) of Elm Creek, Cindy Moffat of Brandon, Lorrie Kleemola (Ed) of Rosser and Dawn Callander (Ernie Vandersteen) of Langruth; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Laura (husband Hans and son Lucas), Heather, Jenna, Stephanie, Amanda, Jason, Lindsay, Tara (husband Kirby and sons Ethan and Troy), Gregory, Alyssa , Denton and April. She will also be missed by her one brother, Kenneth Lawter and his wife Doreen; brother-in-law George Bjarnarson, brother-in-law Garvin Moffat and his wife Peggy, sister-in-law Irma Aubertin and husband Dennis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and dear friends. Doris is predeceased by one daughter Catherine Anel; one granddaughter Leslie Ann, and her parents, Bertram Lawter, Anna and Joe Johanson. Doris was born in Steinbach, MB on March 28, 1936. Her family moved to Langruth when she was nine years old and she attended Hollywood District School. She married Russell on July 31, 1953 and moved from Edmonton, AB to Red Lake, ON before settling in Lakeland permanently, where they raised their children Doris' first passion was her family to whom she devoted her life. Her children and her grandchildren were everything to her, as she sewed and knit and baked for them, and taught them to sew and knit and bake for themselves. She also shared her love of gardening with them, reaping the harvest from her vegetable patch and her fruit trees, always sharing her bounty with family and friends. Her lovely flower-filled yard was the setting of many family picnics. When the children were grown and gone, Doris and Russell toured North America in their RV. Doris loved to travel and their trips took them north to Alaska, south to Louisiana and numerous states and provinces in between. She also loved to fish and her and Russell spent hours in their boat trolling for the big one. Doris was an active community member, affiliated with the Royal Purple for many years. She was always ready to lend a hand serving or baking for various community functions. She enjoyed curling, taking part in many local bonspiels; she coached a baseball team which her daughters played on, and in later years you could find her walking down their gravel road with her faithful companion Elie. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, in the Langruth Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Phyllis Thordarson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeland cemetery. Should friends desire, donations may be made in Doris' memory to the Alzheimer's Society, in support of ongoing research. Clarke's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com You're out of trouble now, my girl.
