JOHN LORNE RITZ On Friday, July 27, 2007 after a short illness, John passed away at home with his family by his side. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Kim; son John; daughter Cheryl; mother Anne; also by his aunt, Margaret Mueller and in-laws, Ralph and Shirley Paterson, Scott and Candyce and Mary Jane and John. He was predeceased by his dad Lorne and brother Billy. John was born in Morris, Manitoba on January 30, 1951. John and Kim were married on August 28, 1976 and settled in Netley, MB, where they built their family home. He was a very adventurous person. John worked hard and his good natured attitude was loved by all whom he came in contact with. He enjoyed hunting, and always looking forward to going on his yearly deer hunting trips. He worked for Centra Gas for 25 years and had recently retired in February of 2007. He had a very entrepreneurial spirit and took great pride in building his business with the love and support of his family. One of his greatest and most proud accomplishments was building Prairie Lane Saskatoons Ltd. and becoming the driving force for pioneering the export of the prairie berry to markets in Europe. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. Interment will take place on Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the Sewell Cemetery, south of Morris, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
