KENNETH (KEN) HAMMOND REDSHAW It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Hammond Redshaw who died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the age of 88 years. Kenneth was predeceased by his loving wife Mary on September 11, 2004 Employed with the Manitoba Telephone System, Ken was a repairman with them for over 35 years. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and landed with the Rifles in Normandy. Ken served throughout the Western European campaign into Germany and was the Platoon Sergeant on D Day and later became the Company Sergeant Major. Upon his return to Winnipeg, Ken joined the Reserve Battallion of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and ended his military career in 1969 with the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. Ken was a lifelong member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Association. Ken's funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, 88 Hespeler Avenue. Thank you to Lynne Fineman, Tana Lyng, and the WRHA Palliative Care Team. As well a special thank you to Ken's care givers Heather Ostop and Joe Schroeder for their comfort, care and support.
