HENRY WEESSIES In His appointed time, on July 27, 2007, the Lord took unto Himself, Henry (Henderikus) Weessies, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Hennie, to whom he was married 52 years; his son, Peter (Theresa) Weessies, and daughters, Jane (Ewart) Tiggelaar, Rita (Mike) Doyle, Henriette (Phil) Hoeksema, Joanne (Al) Primrose, Linda (Rob) Appleyard, and 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sisters and their spouses who reside in The Netherlands. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers. Married on April 1, 1955, after 10 days, they immigrated to Canada, and settled in Winnipeg. In the early years, he was employed at various companies, the longest, being at Soloway's Tomboy store, in Winnipeg's North end at Selkirk and Macgregor. Later he became self-employed and operated Henry's Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. He had many clients throughout all areas of Winnipeg. In summers, he was known as the Fruit man who sold fresh fruits and vegetables to seasonal campers at the Oasis campground, a business which he operated until 1991. Viewing will take place at Green Acres Funeral home, Hwy. No. 1 and Navin Road, on July 31 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will take place at Redeemer Canadian Reformed Church, Bates and Dugald Rd., on August 1, 10:00 a.m., with Pastor T. Van Raalte officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Immanuel Christian School, 215 Rougeau Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2C 3Z9 .
