DANIEL JAMES SHORROCK May 8, 1964 - July 29, 2007 Tragically, Dan succumbed to injuries sustained from a brutal assault while visiting Norway House on July 17. Dan is survived by his children, Bryon, Brandy, Ashly, Lauri, Autumn and Jade; his sisters, Shelly and Deb, as well as his extended family and many friends. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Larry and Vicki, as well as his sister Laurie. Dan was born inPort Arthur, Ontario and spent his childhood in Pinawa, Manitoba, moving with his family in his teens to Winnipeg. He spent time living in BC and Northern Manitoba, most recently in Thompson. Dan was adventurous and had a daredevil streak that was obvious with Evel Knievel antics on his bicycles and later, his dirt bikes. Dan was generous of heart and continuously showed his easy acceptance of people and personalities from all walks of life. He was never one to prejudge a person by their circumstances. It was apparent at a very young age that Dan had both an incredible talent and appreciation for music. He formed his first band and played his first gig at the age of 8. This was just the beginning. He cut his first album with his high school band Justice. Music was his passion and was a constant throughout his life. Most recently, he had garnered both critical acclaim and peer appreciation for his work in the group Highway 373, with his band mates, Clayton, Ryan, A.J., Dan and Ronald. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, especially to the SICU. We truly appreciate everything you did for Dan and his family while he was in your care. A remembrance is planned for family and friends on August 18, 2007 in Winnipeg. Further information can be obtained by contacting Shelly at 613- 832-9181. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to The Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts (204) 943-6090 www.mcma.ca

  • It is February.04.2020, 3:40 am I am 17 year's old crying, thinking of you while I listen to music. If you were alive I would've had a better, happier life, but Im stuck in this rez. Struggling to get my birth certificate and sin number, broke with no job because Ineed a sin # to be hired. I am a volunteer for animal rescue, I helped send out more than 100 dogs. I love you and miss you so much Dad. See you in heaven ❤. RIP - Posted by: Jaden Shorrock (Daughter ) on: Feb 04, 2020

  • Dan and I met back in 1996(ish) in White Rock, BC. I was having a blues jam with some friends, and this guy, whom I had only known as my newest neighbour, flings open the door to our jam space and said, 'Mind if I join in?' from then on we were friends. My heart sinks to think that this wonderful man is no longer around... I wish I could have said good bye, well, I suppose I am. Go gently into that good night. Love you brother, Miles. - Posted by: Miles Taylor (Old friend) on: Jul 16, 2017

  • We miss you dad. Been almost 5 years since you left, and there's not a day that I don't look at your old guitar in my living room and think of you. xo - Posted by: Ashly (daughter) on: May 30, 2012
