Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR NATHANIEL GOERTZEN May 30, 1963 - July 29, 2007 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Victor in the early hours of Sunday, July 29, 2007, due to a tragic accident, at the age of 44 years. Victor will be mourned by his four children: sons, Alexander, Adam, and Zackary and daughter Jessica (and their mother Karen). Also left to mourn are his father Jakob; sisters, Valerie Thiessen (Neil), Dorinda Rodd (Walter); and brothers, Arthur (Betty), Tristan (Gabriele); as well as nieces, Amanda, Charity, Joanna, Kristen, Daneeka, Heather; and nephews, Tyler, David and Sean. Victor will be greatly missed by numerous friends and associates, in particular Charisse Rempel, who had a special place in his life and heart. Victor was predeceased by his loving mother Dora (Dorothy) Neufeld Goertzen in 1994 and it is a comfort to believe they have now been united. Vic was a free spirit who was in his element when on the road and found great solace and pleasure in the last three years trucking across North America. He also harbored a love of the great outdoors and spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing. He was also possessed with intelligence and creativity and a talent for writing that was evidenced by reams of short stories, poetry, articles and even a draft of a fictional novel that he one day hoped to perfect and publish. He also combined his need to roam with his gift for writing and was regularly published in the Highway Star magazine. Vic also had a passion for music which as an adult moved him to teach himself guitar. He always encouraged the musical talents of his children, siblings and friends. He was a gregarious and outgoing person who made an impression wherever he went and those who knew him would agree that one of his strengths was never being afraid to voice an opinion about anything he truly believed in. Vic was extremely proud of his children and always felt that they were the best of his accomplishments. They will forever hold him in their hearts as will all who were touched by his presence. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Transcona Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, 117 Regent Ave. E., Winnipeg, when friends will be invited to share their memories of Victor. Interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, contributions to the charity of choice would be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to Ronald Moffit Memorial Services 204-856-3487
