EVELYN RANNVEIG HOKANSON Peacefully on July 31, 2007, with her family at her side, our mother Evelyn Rannveig Hokanson (nee McLennan) passed away at the Arborg Personal Care Home. She is survived by her children, Inez (Lee) Harrison, Lillian Firman, Josephine (Beggie) Anderson, Lynn (Linda) Hokanson, Dale (Phyllis) Hokanson, Charles (Valerie) Hokanson; daughters-in-law Inga, Marilyn, and Lois; and son-in-law Wayne. Our beloved Amma and Lang-Amma is also survived by 43 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rannveig McLennan, husband Carl; sons, Ken, Roderick and Clifford; daughter Alice Gislason; granddaughter Brenda Hoffman, granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Hokanson, great-grandsons, Cohen Goodman and Craig Kindzierski; sisters, Leonora Sprowl and Loreley (Hirst) Bogle; brothers, Laurence and Roy McLennan; son-in-law Art Firman; many friends and relatives and all of her in-laws. Evelyn was born in Riverton on February 12, 1912. She was proud to have lived in the Riverton area all her life until her move to the personal care home in Arborg in 2001. She married Carl Hokanson in 1931, and together they had 10 children. She was widowed at an early age so she had to work hard to support her large family. She was a strong person and not one to complain. Her door was always open and coffee was always on for anyone who dropped by. Evelyn was very musical and welcomed the opportunity to join up with fellow musicians at impromptu gatherings in the Howardville and Riverton areas. Our Amma will be fondly remembered for her yummy doughnuts and her candy jar. She had an amazing memory for occasions and kept in touch with many friends and relatives. We were all blessed to have her with us for 95 years. The family would like to thank the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their kindness and care over the years. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Zinken officiating. Donations in Evelyn's memory may be made to Riverton Hnausa Lutheran Church or a charity of one's choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
